Emily had been waiting for weeks to visit Jimmy Snake, his mother, and sisters. What is it like living on the Georgina Island Chippewa Reserve? They had exciting plans, and Jimmy was excited, too.

Travelling there meant walking three miles across Lake Simcoe on the ice. Jimmy trekked across it every day. So, there's nothing to worry about, right?

This weekend, however, Old Man Winter had a few things up his sleeve.

And the three spirits that had attached themselves to Emily in her trip to Toronto—they are finding their legs in her life as Turtle Island residents. But to Emily, that appears to mean: interfering with her life.



The Briars Bemused is the second in the "Emily Twillum Adventures", set in 1919, and a prequel to the summer series starting with The Briars Between.
